Time & cost
I have a 2000 land rover discovery 2 that recently broke down. Someone wants to charge me roughly $400 to replace surpentine belt & power steering pump. I'm told the power steering pump caused the problem, that some "rod" seems to be coming out of the pump, its close to the fan in the front part of the engine. I'm fairly knowledgeable when it comes to cars but it doesn't sound right.
Does this sound likely & does this price sound reasonable for someone that does mechanical jobs on the side?? I'm leary & I can't afford to pay alot so I'm looking to get a deal but not to be "taken for a ride". How much time could be expected in a job like this??
Thanks for your time!!
