Headlights are flickering and the battery gauge shoots up to max. also my automatic door locks constantly engage (this has been happening for a while). The other day I tried to start the engine and nothing happened. after the third try I kept the key turned all the way over and after a second or two the engine cranked like nothing was wrong. what could be the problem?

1st have the battery and alternator check out at you local AutoZone to be sure they are good.

If that checks out good then:
Check the wiring in the boot on the driver side door wiring harness for spliced/open/cut/shorted wires.
