2000 Hyundai Accent Repair Question

When start car won't initially reverse unless go into first first. makes a clunking noise when it goes in reverse.
Was a problem then seemed to stop being a problem. Started again but worse. When go to take off can't reverse unless add a lot of revs and then feels like it is breaking through something and makes a clinking sound. Easier when I go into first and then go into reverse. Starting to make clunking noise when asking off in 1st. Gear change when driving absolutely fine.

I would start with a transmission pressure test to rule out a low fluid pressure issue.
