My 2000 Ford Windstar SEL started having a chemical odor inside the car as we were driving home today. Also while sitting in the garage. What is it?

Without knowing what you smell, it would be next to impossible to know exactly what it could be. I have to suspect the most likely cause would be a ruptured heater core which would involve the dash to be removed for replacement.
