2000 Ford Mustang Repair Question

I lost my only key for my mustang and if i buy and ignition will i have to bring it to the dealership to get it coded(chip put in key) ?

Will the ingtion key have to be coded to start the car.

The igniton key will have to be coded for the car as well as any remote fobs you have. If you are going to change the igniton you might look on EBAY and buy a batch of keys and fobs so you can have a few spares. The dealer will code as many as you want for the same price so you might as well get as many as you want when coded . You will find that batches of keys and fobs are very cheap on EBAY. just make sure you are getting OEM keys and fobs.
