2000 Ford Ka Repair Question

My girlfriend owns a Spc Ed 1.3i black v reg ka.
The problem she is having is the clutch pedal is becoming "soft & flimsey"
as we discovered a leak under the car so the master cylinder was suppose to be changed however the mechanic "cut to fit" so does this means we should just get the master cylinder changed again and bleed it? also before the clutch pedal goes the gears wont go into gear without force if they do go in so could this be the gear linkage? or isit linked to the clutch pedal? as I have managed a few time to top up the clutch/brake fluid and pump the clutch pedal to be able to get us back home.

If the clutch hydraulic is leaking you need to fix the leak before you can get a firm pedal-also have the clutch assembly-checked
