Moving problem

We bought a ford ikon 1.6 petrol in bangalore, when we bought it it is running fine. But now a days when we drive in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear the rmp is not going more than 3000 that's why the car is not going fast(but in neutral gear rmp is going to 7 that is fine), and mileage is dropped because of simultaneously decreasing the gears from 5th to 4th on top speed.
we are unable to find the problem.

I think there is no engine light in ford ikon 1.6 pertol.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Yes I checked the engine light, that is always on when we put the key on start mode, when engine is started automatically engine light go off.
Is this problem related to the engine light please inform me

The engine light seems to be working properly. Since it goes out, that tells me there are no trouble codes stored in the computer which makes this a guessing game. Have you ever had the throttle position sensor tested? Have you checked to see if the catalytic converter is plugging?
