I have installed a motor into a 2000 ford explorer. The customer supplied a 4.0 out of another explorer. The year is unknown to me but the cam synchronizer is different at the connections. The original motor has 2 wires and the replacement motor has 3. They will not interchange at the wire or the engine block. What can be done to fix this issue. Thank you for your time

Sounds to me like you installed the wrong motor. Did anyone compare VIN codes before doing this> There are about 4 different 4.0 engines.

Yeah, I did some further research and found out the motor he supplied was a Gen.1 from a explorer that had a obd-1 port. In 96 they went obd-2. I learned this from the cam sync. There is no way to get around it. It will never work. Even modifying will not work. Maybe with standard transmission.
