MY CLUTCH PEDAL IS FLAT TO FLOOR AND FLUID IS LEAKING UNDERNEATH THE CAR

I started my car and pushed the clutch to select 1st gear when i heard a thud and the clutch pedal was flat to floor. i looked underneath the car to find a puddle of clutch fluid and a plastic rod which looks as though it has snapped off from somewhere, ive been told that it could just need a clutch slave but im unsure any ideas ????
Check the slave cylinder , it most likely failed
