I have a grand caravan and there is a lot of black dust on my tires when I change my abs brakes. Also it seems like I have to change them very often they go really fast. What could be the problem?

It is the material of the pads that produce the dirt on the wheel. Clean the wheels often to rid the dust.

Driving habits are the most common reason for going through brakes.

Be carefull of dust protectors on the wheels as they starve the brakes for air to cool them if you use them.

I heard that metallic or semi-metallic brake pads cause this, is it true? If so what would be the best types of pads to use

You can try ceramics. They will reduce the dust but are more expensive.
