Hello there, here is my story: My power steering hose came off (broken clamp/cold temperature) my buddy fixed it. I drove it home and the engine light came on. I shut it off, then it wouldn't start. When I looked under the hood I found that a hose going into the coolant bottle was off. I put it back on. The car started. Drove it around the block and the engine light went off. When I parked the car and turned it off there was a strong smell of coolant.
My Question is: with that hose being off...did it mess up engine function....or once the hose went back on it regulated it self?
Is the coolant smell a warning of something?

Thanks for your time,
Joanna

The coolant smell could be from the hose being off. Make sure the coolant level is full. Also, make sure the engine temp is staying in a normal operating range. Check for other coolant leaks.
