I need to know what the metal hose that plugs into the back of the thermostat housing is called and also if I have to order it from the dealer or can I get it local

If you are talking about the pipe in the pic it may be a h eater pipe andnot sure it is an available part. Check with a dealer on this as auto parts may not have it.

No not that 1 I was told its called a coolant return pipe or something like that

Then you already know what it is it returns to either timing cover or water pump area

Its literally an inch or two away from the pipe u showed me its on the back side of the thermostat housing is that a return pipe?

If it heads to the firewall then it's a heater pipe of some sort which we have no drawing or pics of.
