Hello,

It sounds like you have a cranks angle sensor that is out. Here is a guide to help you see what you are in for when replacing the sensor:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/crankshaft-angle-sensor-replacement

Check out the diagrams (below)

Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Cheers

I would first see if it stored any codes in the computer.(CODE SCAN)Depending on what code it threw out, it can tell you what to look at next(short cut)Pull A Spark Plug Out, Does not Matter Which One. Put Plug wire back on spark plug, touch threaded part of Spark plug to head or metal bracket, hold with rubber insulated pliers, have someone turn engine over and watch for a spark at tip of spark plug. If there is spark, you just ruled out fire, now on to the fuel. You will need a fuel pressure tester to test the fuel pressure at the fuel pressure regulator (Rent at Advance Auto I Think)Check your Specifications in a chiltons manual for correct fuel pressure at regulator. If no Pressure or LOW pressure I Would probably look at the fuel pump (1st Check Fuse or relay). I would say check fuel filter but never in my 27 yrs. Wrench turning have I ran across one so bad it would not start.

In case you have tried everything else:

I have a 2000 Buick Le Sabre. I replaced alternator and pulled some fuses and engine would crank, and occasionally start for a revolution or two, but that was it. No start. No code thrown. Security light not flashing.

Checked fuel pressure its okay!

This guide will help you

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/car-cranks-but-wont-start

Then I noticed the two of the three screws in the forward fuse holder were loose. I tightened those and instant start. The screws secure the big connectors below. When the screws loosened, pulling a fuse was just enough for connectors below to loose contact. Still no start, Then I replaced the crankshaft sensor and BAM! the engine started.

Thanks 2Carpros

Other Category problem
2000 Buick Lesabre Engine Size unknown Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 116000 miles

For a while the service engine light has been on. I was planning on taking it into the shop this next week to have it checked out. Last Monday, the car wouldn't start. I jiggled the thing (maybe it's called the ignition switch) where you put the key in and it finally started. Worked fine for 5 days and then the same problem happened yesterday, but won't start even when I jiggle the switch. I tried to jump start it from another vehicle, but nothing happens. The lights, horn, radio seem to be working fine. Do you have any idea what the problem could be?

So when you say it won't start do you mean it cranks over and won't start or it just won't crank over. Get back to me and lets go from there.

First for about 6 weeks, my 2000 lesabre would stall and then in about 0 to 5 minutes, it would start back up. It would only do this once per trip. After it stalled and started back up it would run fine until the engine was turned off and then it would stall again during the next trip.
Now the engine would hardly turn over. Tried again and it started. Drove for about 10 minutes and stopped. It started again and the engine had a light grinding noise (like an alternater grinding) for about 5 minutes and then it stalled. After the engine was turned off some motor was running under the engine towards the front of the car. It was smoking and finally stopped running.

The motor towards the front of the engine may be the cooling fan, test it, but if it was smoking, replace it, test charging system, was it cranking slow? Or not doing anything? Was the check engine light ever on? Did the engine overheat? The motor you heard running, was it the cooling fan motor? Where was the smoke coming from?

Engine Performance problem
2000 Buick Lesabre 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

the car has been running fine but was started and all of the sudden started to run rough. It was shut off and would not start back. What was thought to be smoke was noticed in the engine comparment. I checked to see if the engine was getting fuel and the pressure was 60 psi at the manifold. I removed a plug to check for fire. There was none (i don't think I had it grounded good) so I removed the ingnition module. It tested bad at the parts store so I replaced. The engine would still turn over but would not even try to start. I took the new module back to the parts store (just in case) it tested good. Still believing I was not getting fire I replaced the crank shaft sensor. Still have the same problem. I removed a plug again and found that the plugs were firing. I checked them all. I then thought that it had jumped time, since it had 200,000 miles on it. I tore it down and guess what that was not it. I replaced it anyway. While I was at it I replaced the camshaft sensor. Still had the same thing. Oh, I forgot to mention that I used a scanner and no code was shown. I installed new plugs and plug wires. Plus I had all the coils checked. I had the batt checked, cleaned cables, checked fuses and relays and nothing found. Then today I took the catalytic converter lose and cranked the engine. I heard a sound which sounded like a backfire which I heard one time before, during this whole process. This time I saw what seemed like smoke in the engine comparment but I couldn't smell anything. The smoke all most seemed like a mist. The battery was going down so I put everything back together and went home with my tail between my legs. My dad (who the car belongs to) put a charger on the battery. Two hours later he calls me and tells me the car started. He cranked it with the pedal to the floor and it started. The car ran fine for a minute and then seem to start to surge. It choked down a quit. It started back and did about the same thing, it would only stay running if we kept giving it gas. I pulled a plug which kind of looked strange. While the car was running there was white smoke coming from the tailpipe. I'm wondering now if the problem may be with the intake or a head gasket? There is no water in the oil. Please help

If you are getting white smoke out the exhaust that has a sweet smell to it then it is coolant.

I would start by running a compression test on all cylinders, they should all be within 10%. If compression is OK, then perform a cooling system pressure test to check for an intake gasket.
GM had many problems with the V6 engine's intake manifold gasket.

Welcome to the forum. How long since a tune-up? If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it, while you check for spark at the plugs. Use a gage and check fuel pressure. Some of the national brand autostores might loan you a fuel pressure gage. You can call and ask.

To check for spark at the plugs, you can pull a spark plug boot. Stick known good plug or spark tester in the boot. Ground metal part of plug against metal part of engine. Have helper crank the engine, watch for spark at the tip of spark plug or tester.

Car runs and starts great. When I drive for 20 + miles, turn car off for a few minutes, ie to run into a store, come back out, car idles low/ rough for a minute or so then dies. Then car won't start for at least 1 hour or more. Car cranks, but wont turn over. When car has time to cool off, so to speak, it start up with no problem. It is not showing any codes. Volt meter reads 14.6 and thermostat is not running hot. Any ideas?

Next time it stalls don't wait do below immediately to determine if its fuel or spark

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine atleast 3/16 away from ground-have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it

2000 Buick LeSabre Limited electrical problem

This is an intermittent problem which occurs when vehicle is in motion or idling while parked.

The warning lights come on, the fuel gauge falls to empty, the radio goes off. The DIC mileage information lights go from numerals to dashes.
Also, the air conditioning stops cooling.

When parked and put in park the doors will not unlock and the keyless entry fobs will not unlock the doors or the trunk.

During this condition, the car will not start or even make a sound as if it were getting power to the starter.

The battery is good and I have cleaned the terminals good including the ones under the hood.

While idling during this condition, I can slam the trunk or a door and all will return to normal-some of the time.

The condition does not affect the driving of the car.

I think this could be the body control module(?) What do you think? Is this located under rear window deck?
