2000 Buick Century Repair Question

Whats wrong with the engine when the car stalls out
I smell gas when I start the car, exaust is black, the car cuts off at times & engine sounds like its flooded or drowning when I try to restart it & if I dont give it gas it wont start & keep running

Yes have the computer scanned for codes post the exact code numbers not code descriptions.

I only have the description because that is how the guy gave me the slip at auto zone
