Help- I have a 2000 audi a6, 2.8L engine code AHA. Plumbed between the thermostat housing and the lower front cooling pipe is what appears to be an after run pump(typically used on turbos). I can find no technical literature anywhere on this unit and no audi dealer seems to know about it either. This is an original part as it carries an audi part no. (Which cant be found!)And it is wired into the common junction box near the abs module. I guess my question is A. What is it? And B. If I remove it and just use hose in its place will it do any damage and/or generate DTC codes? Any help would be appreciated. Thanx

O.K. Right not Audi part have you took it out to inspect? Does it have power and run? It maybe a electric assist pump added. Assume not original owner? If yes any way to contact previous owner? Would not see any harm in removing but if it is a pump may well leave it in place.

I'm not the original owner. I just did a timing belt, water pump etc. The device has power but doesn't ever run (temp issue - maybe not warm enough?). The lower front cooling pipe on my audi runs to the oil cooler, so thats why I'm concerned. My bentley manual and all other tech stuff I can find just show a straight hose in this spot. This is definitly an original part so you can understand my confusion in that I cant find any info at all on it.
