I have a 1999 Saturn SL2. When I press the brake between 15 and 40 MPH, there is a loud, almost plastic sounding rattling coming from what sounds like the drivers side wheel well area. When this occurs, it causes lights, radio, etc to flicker. Any ideas?

I would inspect the brake's make sure everything look's good. Also make sure your battery cable's are clean and tight have your battery and alternator tested. That's where I would start. Let me know what you find.

Brakes, battery and alternator ok. When I pull the ABS fuse, the knocking goes away. Either the fuse is bad (and unlikely) or the knocking is in the ABS system itself. Any idea what it could be?

So the abs valve on the master cylinder is making that noise?I have seen the gear's on the bottom of that abs valve loosen up and make a rattling noise. There is a cover over them.
