Frame

Thanks. I think the frame was bent slightly, and the trunk was pushed in. The frame shop straightened, but did not need to weld anything. Our insurance wanted to total it, so we paid salvage cost, as we have a new engine and transmission in it, and it has been a very reliable little car. I just didn't know if it has lost tensile strength (like a badly chipped windshield), and would be dangerous if rear-ended in the future.

It really depends on how it was repaired and whether it was reinforced. Once a frame has a kink or bend, that spot will be weaker if not reinforced.
