1999 Saturn Astra Repair Question

Topics covered: Engine, Sensor, Auto parts.

Asked on February 9, 2012

Why does my 1999 SL2 slowly shuts off whenever I approach a hill or incline. I have to disconnect the battery for a few minutes so I can make it home.

Engine troubles codes indicated something with camshaft position sensor(i can't find it), i removed the crankshaft position sensor and cleaned it. I have replaced the PCM.

I forgot to get the code printout from Advance Auto Parts. I just find it "frustratingly weird" that this car runs fine until it "smells" an incline.

Just to add to this one that engine doesnt have a cam sensor. So do you have platnuim plugs in the engine? Also what model do you actual have because the astra didnt come out till 2008.Also the exact trouble code numbers would really help.Have you checked the exhaust for excessive back pressure when its acting up?
