I BOUGHT A AUTO TRANSMISSION FILTER KIT TO REPLACE THE AUTO TRANS FILTER ON MY 1999 SAAB 9-5 BUT CAN'T FIND A DRAIN PLUG OR TRANSMISSION PAN WHERE THE FILTER WOULD GO?

IT IS A V6 TURBO, GASOLINE ENGINE WITH A 4 SPEED AUTO TRANS

There is no filter to replace, u can only drain & refill, u will need only 4 qrt's of dextron 3 type fluid or the saab original fluid, good luck.

Thank you, mnthny4. That brings up my confidence. I could not see where the filter would fit. Will advice the auto parts store accordingly.

Another question. The theft alarm went off last night at 11:30pm. I got out of bed to investigate. No thieves. But, when I used the key (don't have a key fob) to open the door and turn on the car, it would not go off. As I drove it around the block the alarm still stayed on. The SID said "service theft alarm." It eventually went off, but I did not lock the car (thus not setting the alarm) when I parked it, in fear it would go off again. This morning I removed the #14 fuse (in the fuse box next to the master cylinder) which goes to the AC / and auto siren alarm. However, now, the the SID "service theft alarm" says on. I want to disconnect the "auto siren alarm." Do you know where it is. Or do you have any other advice. I got a steal on this used SAAB.$600! So far, it is getting out good. Take care. Larry

U can disconnect the siren, located under the d/s frt wheel well liner, nearest the frt bumper corner, this siren has a 10 year life span battery install so even if u take the main vehicle battery out alarm will still work, good luck, note check if the free timing belt was done at your dealer should have be done at 60k. If u want post the last 8 #'s of your vin & I can check & let u know.

If I disconnect the siren at the d/s frt wheel well liner, nearest the frt bumper corner, will the SID show a trouble code "service theft alarm?" I'll try to disconnect it this weekend and let you know. It's just nice looking at the SID without any warnings on it while driving. Thanks for telling me where it is. I activated and listened for it and yes, the sounds came from that area. I will seek to find a repair manual for this SAAB.

The prior owner said the timing belt was replaced at 60K, but I'm not sure if it was at the dealer. I will ask him. Anyway, here are the last 8 of the vin: X3038902

No the warning info on sid will go away, note alarm system will still work if tampered with but there will be no siren noise, also no one can steal a saab without a key or a wrecker, if u do not have a second key get one, your keycode is BC1624, & as per your timing belt there is no history as per it been done, your last warranty work done was a alternator in 2003 at mileage 32k so check your local dealer this free belt is still there no matter the mileage now u may have to pay for the tensioner bearing but the belt & labour is free. Good luck.

Mnthny4, you know your stuff. I'm impressed. Thank you! I'll drain and refill the trans this weekend and attempt to disconnect the siren. This 99 9-5 SAAB is turning out to be OK.
Will keep you posted.
