99 Grand Voyager, the fuel gauge needle just "fell off", and is laying behind the plastic,

99 Grand Voyager, the fuel gauge needle just "fell off", and is laying behind the plastic, other than that, even with 150k miles, the rest is like new, does the fuel gauge needle slip back on like a dial or ****...? like if i "make a hole" (or remove some plastic from the dash and glue it back in place), if this is a "remove the dash" kind of repair, would seem to cost more than the minivan is worth...
