1999 nissan maxima instrument cluster (?) All gauges on dash will jump up and down or freeze at top or bottom of scale. Ex. Temp guage reads hot, tac and speedometer is as far down on the gauage as it can go, etc. Once in a while the gauges will read correctly. What would cause the gauges to all of a sudden go berzerk?

Check the connector at the back. If it is clean and tight, then the cluster has failed and will have to be replaced.

Sorry took so long to reply, I've confused myself on which sites have responded. How do I get to the back of the cluster?

You must remove the bezel in front of it and then remove the 4 attaching bolts.

There is a voltage regulator that goes bad and messes up the voltage going to the cluster.
