1999 Mitsubishi Shogun Repair Question

Car anti theft device
Hi,got old shogun n reg it has a tag that you have to put into a socket on the dashboard before you can start the engine,can i disable this? apart from being agrivating the tag is begining to fall apart and i dont know where to get a replacement so any one know how to get rid of it

That is a stone age after-market immobilizer system and to disable it, you need to locate the control unit and know where it is wired to. Disconnecting the control module and rejoining the original wire harness would get the system out of commision.
