1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse Rough Idle

Car idles rough and RPM's fluctuate between 600 - 900 while at a standstill. Sometimes I can feel a little missing while driving. Used an OBD2 analyzer and it showed code $40 and code $41 but I can't find any reference to what they stand for. I've replaced the MAP sensor, intake manifold air temp. Sensor, idle air control sensor and coolant temp. Sensor. Replaced spark plugs and wires.

I would start with a compression test,

If a cylinder is a little low, suspect the intake valve leak on that cylinder which will cause a rough fluctuating idle.
