1999 Mitsubishi 3000 GT knocking noise coming from the engine
1999 Mitsubishi 3000 GT mileage: 103,200. I hear a knocking noise coming from the engine. I can hear it sometimes at idle but mostly when the engine is revved to 2000 to 3000 RPM. The sound seems to go away if I unplug the spark plug to the number 5 cylinder. Any suggestions on what it could be?

From the tests that you have described, it could indicate a possible broken piston or broken ring, or a failing wrist pin or rod bearing on the number 5 cylinder.
