My car wont start. It requires a jump simply to turn on. It appears as though it is not holding the charge.

The problem arose after i gave it a jump the first time. Since then, this issue has persisted. It is worth noting that we jumped the car using an older model Toyota. i tougth coud be the alternator
but im not sure .....
