I have a 1999 Mazda Protege (1.6L) and my belt that runs the alternator broke. I replaced both belts to my car, but when I start my car, I noticed that my A/C Compressor Pulley is not turning. This is the case even when I turn the A/C on full blast. Is my compressor bad or is this normal?

When A/C is not turned on, the pulley would turn but the clutch would not engage and the central part would not be turning.

When A/C is turned on, the clutch should engage and the clutch would turn with the pulley. If the compressor is not turning, you would not get any cold air.

Check the compressor clutch wire and ensure it is connected. Could have been dislodged when you were replacing the drive belt.
