99 mazda 626 2.5 check engine light on was told I had bad egr valve question can bad intake manifold gasket cause check engine light to come on

Many things can cause the CEL to come on. Some do not do it directly but could cause some sensors to malfunction and trigger codes.

Bad intake manifold gasket would cause erratic idling, surging or stalling.
