That is extremely vague. Can you be more specific as to what the hose looks like? Could it be a breather?

It's a black hose that connects to the rear end on the driver side.

That sounds like a breather. Follow it and see if it ends and is vented into the atmosphere. It may also have a white plastic one way vent at the end.
