Sentry system not recognizing key

My vehicle has the Sentry Anti-Theft system. It suddenly does not recognize the key. The security light comes on and stays on and the vehicle will not start. We unhooked the battery, did the door lock reset thing AAA does, bpt new batteries in the key fob. I only have one key. Help please! I am looking for anything I can do myself, budget is tight. Thanks!

There are a number of things that can cause this, so we need to start with the basics. This means we need to check the various fuses that are part of this system.

I am including the wiring diagram below that will show which fuses are involved. Here is a guide that will help with testing these fuses:

However, I suspect your issue is going to be a fuse, failed, key, or the sentry module has failed.

So, if the fuses are okay, then the best course of action would be to replace the keys.
