Located below Air intake filter housing and some wiring harnesses against the engine. After you remove the air filter housing and intake tube (removing battery 1st will help access), follow the positive battery cable to the starter coil.
Disconnect positive Battery lead from coil.
Remove the 2 bolts attaching the starter (15mm and 17mm).
Remove starter carefully to avoid damaging wiring
To install - follow reverse order
Be careful not to pinch any wires under mounting flange before tightening bolts. I had the engine mount sensor wire get pinched and it took out my ECM module.

The salesman at the store said it was really easy since the starter is on top just underneath my air filter box. I know where the air filter box is but, I'm unsure how to remove it the correct way. I know it would be easier to take it to a pro but funds are really tight! Need to do this one on my own.

Remove the air box if that improves access, disconnect battery and disconnect main cable at starter and unplug solenoid wire, unbolt starter and remove, ensure you have the radio pin if it is a security system.

What kind of starter motor?

What happened when it would not start?

Were they all under warranty?

Did you inspect the flywheel for missing teeth?

Just replaced starter 2 weeks ago. Since then my tach is working intermittently. Sometimes when I start the car it works fine. Other times doesnt move at all. Tapping on cluster has no effect.

Starter has nothing to do with the tachometer. Signal for tachometer is throught the ECM. Check the ECM wire connector.

I recently bought this car, and I have already had to replace the alternator. Now the starter is out. What all do you have to remove to access the starter?

Just make sure that he disconnects the battery before working with electrical parts. The only part to remove is the air filter box assembly to get to the starter.
