My truck will not accelerate correcty and loses ability to accelerate at all once hitting 45 mph. Any idea was what to could be wrong?

I drive a 1999 Ford F150. I have been having this problem lately where my truck won't accelerate like it should. It feels like it is missing. Also once I hit 45mph in my truck, I lose all ability to accelerate and have to let it drop down to 25 mph or below before I can accelerate again. My dad thought it might be a spark plug issue but after replacing the spark plug, the problem is still persistent.

start with a fuel pressure check. spark would be next and then compression.

bad cat converter would also cause the issue
