Grinding noise

Loud grinding noise coming from left front tire on a 1999 ford explorer, i checked pads and rotors to no avail, i see a tear in my cv joint boot but not sure if this would affect it while driving straight as well. i hear the noise no matter what direction i turn, it happens in reverse as well

A CV boot tear would indicated the CV bearings are worn out, while they make more noise when turning, they will make noise going straight if worn badly.
