1999 explorer four wheel drive front drivers drive shaft locks in reverse. But forward it is free what is the problem

Not sure I understand. Do you mean the wheel only locks in reverse?

Yes my son and his buddy. Changed the spindle / arm/ tierod due to the fact that he hit something and broke the tierod mount on th_e spindle
