Assuming this is a gas engine fuel pump is located inside fuel tank, tank must come out to service.

what do you use to disconnect the fitting if it so cramped around it

Are you taliking about the fuel supply and return lines on top of the tank?

Do you have the tank drained and ready to come out? If so slightly lower one so you can access the lines, some quick connect lines will have two plastic tabs were line meets fuel punp module, squeeze together and disconnect line. If it doesnt have that style you may to get a set of fuel line disconnect tools.
