1999 Dodge Intrepid Repair Question

Is the engine oil coolant line necessary on this car, or can i remove and plug oil pan and radiator?
Line is ruptured where the metal line attaches to the switch/sensor that is screwed into oil pan, $300 to replace.

Plug it up and make sure its sealed properly
