Dipstick says the level is right

I looked into the oil filler cap hole on my car and it looks as though there is little to no oil, but the dipstick says the level is right. Is it normal to not see oil through the oil filler hole in a 1999 Chrysler cirrus? I had a ford ranger and there way was to look into the engine is this right?

Nice site :-)

The dipstick is the deciding factor. If the oil shows Full, you're fine. The only time you'll see oil through the oil filler cap is with the engine running. And you won't see much.
