I have a 99 Tahoe that is having starting issues. Right now I believe I have it in fail enable mode. When it finally started I unplugged the key sensor and the security light stays on all the time. The reason for this is that ive tried the relearn method didn't work. Ive tried to jump out using a resistor didn't work. I cut open the key to see if I could read the resistor in the key, this is the baffling part, no resistor in key. Just a regular key. With confused me cause how did it work in the first place. The whole time I was trying the things the security light never stayed on or blinked. Which makes me think that the issue might be the system it self not just the key. Any info would be helpful.

Here's how you bypass the sensor in a Passlock system.

PASSLOCK SENSOR BYPASS

If you find the black wire and the yellow wire from the passlock sensor in the column you can solder in a 2.2 K ohm resistor and then attempt to start the car. It will stall don't turn the ignition off. Let the ignition on for ten minutes or until the theft light goes out. Turn the key off for ten seconds then attempt to start the car. If it now runs you have been successful. If it doesn't you either made a mistake or there are other problems besides the ignition lock cylinder.
