How to see if distibutor is in correctly

Had to replace distributor do to damage cap won't tighten.Crank may have moved.Also intake gaskets were replaced.Truck starts hard and pings during acceleration.

You need to roll your engine over to TDC on the compression stroke for the number 1 cylinder. Then see if the rotor is pointing to the #1 spark plug.

Ya, you don't want to mess around when it comes to timing. It needs to be exact.
