Starter keeps going out

1999 chevy lumina owned 5 or 6 years...on it's 3rd starter...last one put in about 2 weeks ago. What would make it keep going out?

Did you try changing starter brands? Battery cables--grounds. Where applicable, the security system may go into theftlock if you remove battery cables. Something to think about. I looked at oem starter for your vehicle, over 400 bucks, wow. You shouldn't have to replace that every year or so, I couldn't afford it, just speaking for myself.

Never would have thought of the cables for the starter...good place to start. It is clicking...will check to make sure a wire is not shorting out. Thanks for the tip, it is much appreciated!
