Cold Engine Starts

I have a 1999 BMW 323. It is a cold / starting car, only for the months of Dec-Mar, seemingly. The steering wheel seems to grind, and the car just seems to not want to get out of bed. This only last for a few minutes, depending on how cold it is. I drive 5 minutes and everything is fine, temp is normal and warmed up.

My question, what do i need to have done to avoid cold starts for this car ??..

Thanks,

Tosh

At 103k miles there are some things that might need to be addressed. BMW calls for replacement of the pre-cat oxygen sensors @ 100k, the sparkplugs need to be replaced @ 100k, The underhood throttle body to air mass sensor boot might be getting hard and could be developing cracks. Have you any of the history for the car?
