1998 Volkswagen Cabriolet Repair Question

2.0L auto run very well until warm and then touch the brake and then ignition shuts down
Car cranks well but will not restart for about one hour. I feel it must be electrical maybe MAF ??? Next day and same problem.

Next time it refuses to start -check fuel and spark immediately
