Saturn SL1 Battery Problem
1998 Saturn SL1 1.9 ltr, 5 speed, received code from pocket scanner for bad idle sensor,
replaced that, then code for bad throttle body sensor, replaced that. The car will not idle
where it's suppose to around 600 it's idle is up to 1100 sometimes higher. At times sitting at a
traffic light taking off, it almost stalls and has a rich smell from exhaust. Have checked
for vacuum leaks and can't find anything. Very puzzled, could someone please advise me.
Everything has been cleaned with carburator cleaner. Even disconnected neg side of battery
to try to reset and clear the codes on pocket scanner. Now no codes come up when plugging
the scanner back on the car. Thank you Margaret

You said you didnt have codes so why are you taking the battery cable off trying to clear codes you dont have?
