How to find why motor cut out and now won't try to start

It was running great, then while driving the motor cut out like throwing a switch. The battery and starter turn the motor over fine and all other electrical works but the motor doesn't fire or try to start. I found No fuses out and found No loose or disconnected wiring.

Having No test equipment where can I start looking for this problem?

I'm unemployed and can't afford to have it towed to a shop, much less pay for repairs. I'm a fair mechanic when working on pre 70 cars.

If you could explain what and where parts are that I could take out and have checked, I can do that.

Thank you for taking the time to read this,

i would look at a possible timing belt which was a common failure. if it is, the valves are most likely bent. i would start there.
