I am at my wits end with this, and in need of some serious help. I have a 1998 Olds 88 that will not stay running. I have had the battery, starter, alternator tested, and they are good. I did notice a little bulging on the battery. Have changed the battery cables. Vehicle will start, but when I shut the car off and try to re-start, I have nothing. Please Help!

When you say, you get nothing. You mean no electricals? Headlights won't work, interior lites won't work? Use a voltage tester at the fuse block, anything?

If your just talking about the starter, check the starter circuit. Also, your security system could cause a problem? Any applicable trouble codes? Some of the national brand autostores used to check codes for free. You can check trouble codes yourself, at the least, you need an obd2 code reader. I'd get one that would check generic as well as manufacturer specific codes.

Intermittent issues can be a pain to track. If there is a bulge in the battery, that doesn't sound good. I can give you a wiring diagram on your starter circuit, if that will help?
