1998 Oldsmobile 88 valve body pan

I need to know if the tranny has to come out to remove the transmission valve body cover. I need to replace the TCC solenoid.

No you don't have to remove the transmission to do that.

It's in a Oldsmobile, 1998 88 model 3.8l with automatic. How can I get to the cover else wise?

All the gm cars with those transmissions I have dropped the subframe/lowered the transmission enough to pull the cover back enough to use a long screwdriver and magnet to pull the retaining clip and swap the solenoid out.

Can you also get the pressure solenoid that way too?

Oh yeah thats the one I always change on those its not too common for the tcc solenoid to fail.
