'98 Mercury Mystique Flashing Check Engine

Today my '98 Mercury Mystique felt like the engine was mis-firing on the initial takeoff and has a flashing check engine light. There is also a sulfur smell coming inside the car. Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
