1998 Mercedes Benz C200 Repair Question

Mercedes Benz C200 Battery Problem
Battery went dead, fitted new battery and was told the charging rate was 11.5, all the lights on the dash goes off when vehicle starts what could be the problem? and yes the mileage is really 15101 miles. Can any one help. Thanks.

THe alt should be producing around 14 v when running. If it is only making 11.5, the battery will go dead. have it checked and check wiring around wiring as well as the fuseable link.
