Check engine light on Parts store says it the catalytic converter. Does any of the cleaners they sell work

While it may be possible to clean the converter somewhat, running those chemicals through the engine can be very harmful so I wouldn't advise that.
If you have a type of converter that is bolted on and could be removed to be able to soak it in a bucket of cleaner, that would be the only option that would be safe.
