Lincoln Mark VIII Steering Problem

My son slide on some fresh snow when making a turn and ran into a curb, now the steering wheel is 90 degrees out of center and there is a drift in the steering. I thought he might have bent a tie rod but went and checked and no bends. I am wondering if he damaged the steering rack and if this this sounds like it might be the culprit?
