98 freelander overheating problem

I had new radiator fitted to my 98 freelander and after i picked it up it kept overheating. i took it back and it was bled of air but still kepy overheating. i have taken it to another mechanic and he has checked thermostat which is ok and have now been told that i need o new power steering pump as this drives the water pump aswell. is this right ? i dont understand how needing a new power steering pump will stop the car from overheating????? please help

have a compression test of the cylinders carried out .. the power steering will not make the vehcle overheat unless it is jammed up and not letting the belt turn ?
